About the Role

We are looking for a thoughtful, organised, and reassuring individual to join our team.
The ideal candidate will need to be self-motivated and resourceful, with the confidence to work in a fast-paced retail environment. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, as you will consistently deliver high standards of customer service by responding to customer needs in a friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient manner.
You will help maintain high standards across the store by merchandising stock, keeping shop floor and stock areas organised, and following our visual merchandising guidelines. As well as working on the sales floor, you will support the smooth running of our stock room as needed. This role is physically active alongside needing careful attention to accuracy.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
• Provide exceptional customer service, delivering a friendly and welcoming service and offering informed and practical advice on outdoor equipment
• Operate tills accurately and efficiently, including handling cash and processing transactions
• Replenish stock and ensure shop floor and stock areas remain organised and tidy
• Work collaboratively as an active member of the team, supporting colleagues when needed
• Demonstrate strong product knowledge and awareness of outdoor industry trends, promotions, and offers
• Build rapport with customers and identify opportunities to increase transaction value
• Support the smooth and efficient running of the stock room
• Follow all health, safety, and loss prevention procedures

Skills and Competencies
• Retail experience (preferred)
• Computer literacy, with experience using retail EPOS systems (preferred)
• A genuine passion for the outdoors and outdoor activities is essential
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills
• Flexible approach to working hours, including regular weekend work
• Strong communication skills in person, on the phone, and via email
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Proactive in maintaining and developing product knowledge
• Ability to carry out physical tasks including lifting stock, retrieving items, and occasionally moving loaded trolleys
